A letter from the candidate
December 1, 2011
Dear Friend,
It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I officially announce my candidacy for State Representative of the Massachusetts 4th Worcester District – Leominster. I proudly look forward to a spirited campaign as well as the opportunity to serve the great City of Leominster.
My family first immigrated to Leominster in the 1930s when my great-grandfather, Hector Fluet moved here from Canada to pursue a better life for his wife and 13 children. My parents Alan Brooks, a decorated Vietnam War hero, and Mary Brooks, a Massachusetts public school teacher, felt strongly about raising their child in a city with strong community spirit.
Growing up, my mother encouraged me to participate in various activities including scouting where I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. While attending Leominster High School, I was Captain of the wrestling team, a sport that I later pursued at LaSalle University while earning dual degrees in Criminal Justice and History. This competitive nature has helped me grow my professional career in marketing and has given me a reputation as an innovative problem solver.
As our state legislature continued to facilitate a culture of excessive government spending, job killing regulations, and corruption, I was motivated to take action. With the help of other like-minded citizens, we created a local political organization founded on the principles of smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and adherence to the principals of the US Constitution. In an effort to make a greater impact, I also took on the role of Campaign Manager for Governor’s Councilor Jen Caissie, where we stressed public safety and government accountability; two principles I will hold firmly as your State Representative.
Restoring sensible government in Massachusetts will be a challenging task, but with your help we will continue to rebuild the foundation of our state. To this end, I have decided to make three pledges – values not commonly found in politics today.
I PLEDGE that every vote I make will be in the best interest of the people of Leominster and not in the interest of advocacy groups, lobbyists, or even party leaders.
I PLEDGE that I will work tirelessly to create a healthy environment in Massachusetts for business to grow and for people to get back to work.
I PLEDGE that I will be available and accountable to the people of Leominster and to put their concerns as my first priority.
We are at the tipping point in Massachusetts and on November 6th, 2012 we must decide if we are to continue down this road of business-as-usual, or move boldly forward to bring real change to Beacon Hill.
Every journey starts with a first step and ours starts today – It Starts In Leominster.
Sincerely,
Justin Brooks
